multi-channel tape compositions (1986-89) digital stereo mixdown from original tapes, 24bit mapping original sources: analog tape 1" 8-ch 15ips dbx: 3-ch [1] 4-ch [2,3] 6-ch [4] intermediate master on analog tape 1/2" 15ips stereo [2,3,4] basic material: 3 piano improvisations by Friedrich Gulda, recorded especially as a raw material for further transformation in this composition [1], double bass sounds [2,3,4], piano sounds[4] methods: analog transformation, tape composition tools: analog devices designed by Georg Danczul and Wolfgang Musil produced at the composers studio, Allentsgschwendt [1], Rastenberg [2,3,4] Austria supported by: SKE-Fond, Land OÖ The four pieces on this CD demonstrate the amazing possibilities of 'sound-alchemy' still with analog means. LANDSCHAFT uses only piano-music by Friedrich Gulda as a basic material, EVE and KLEINE FUGE only double bass sounds, while BITTERSWEET confrontates both sources in a melancholic mood.
Landschaft is the pure tape-part of the last cooperation of Günther Rabl with Friedrich Gulda, Landschaft mit Pianist (landscape with piano player) for tape and piano improvisation 1986. "Hard to believe, that the whole sound spectrum should be derived from piano sounds. The
variform, sometimes even threatening sounds, though invariable coming from tape, seemed to
be the anarchic part in this event." LANDSCHAFT ist der selbständige
Tonbandteil des Projektes LANDSCHAFT MIT PIANIST (Dezember 1986, mit Friedrich Gulda
Klavier).
